Blue Angel: “The knots in this wooden fence form what seems to be the shape of an angel. This is one of those pictures that keeps me humble. That fence had been outside my window for years, and I only recently saw the angel. The colorized version shows the angel especially clearly, but you can see the original wood tones in the smaller image in the corner.”—Sandra Canning

Alaskan Angel: “This picture was taken in July of 2012, on the Noatak River in Alaska. As you can see, it’s a beautiful angel that seemed to follow us as we boated along the river.”—submitted by Mary Lou Sours

Angel by artist Abbott H. Thayer (1887). There is something very comforting about this painting. The angel (posed by Thayer’s daughter, Mary) looks a bit sad. Not long before she posed, her dear mother passed away. I think she’s sad for her lost mom, just as I have remained sad for my own mom, whom I lost when I was only eight. I’m not alone about that. This sweet angel is sad along with me.—submitted by Robert

This photograph was taken at my cousin’s wedding this past summer in Virginia. As she and her new husband danced their first dance, an angel appeared in the clouds above them.
Many of us who witnessed this were absolutely amazed, as we were convinced this was the work of my cousin’s Nana and our grandmother, who recently passed away. We knew that they would not have missed this very important event! The image of this angel provided great comfort to our family.—Paula Kamp, Auburn, Pennsylvania
